New Delhi: A total of 137 police personnel were conferred with honorary ranks on the day of their retirement during a ceremonial event held at the Delhi Police headquarters on Wednesday.The retiring personnel—ranging from the rank of constable to sub-inspector—were awarded badges of their next higher honorary rank in front of their family members. The ceremony was presided over by Delhi Police commissioner Satish Golchha.
The initiative followed the approval granted by lieutenant governor V K Saxena.Special commissioner of police (HRD) Robin Hibu described the event as a step towards recognising the long and dedicated service of cops.Addressing the gathering, Golcha said the proposal to grant honorary ranks on the date of retirement was moved keeping in mind limited promotion opportunities during service. He lauded the contribution of the retiring personnel to the force and to society, and extended his best wishes for their post-retirement life.tnn
