JMI Shooting Player Secures Silver and Bronze at National Sikh Games

Mukabir, a first-year B.A. (Hons.) History student at Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) and a university shooting player, delivered a strong performance at the 7th National Sikh Games 2025–2026. The event was held at the Guns of Nations Shooting Sports Academy in Delhi from December 4 to 7, 2025. Competing in the Junior category, Mukabir won two medals in the 10m Air Pistol discipline. He secured a Silver Medal in the individual event and a Bronze Medal in the team event. His performance reflected consistent training, focus, and discipline, and added to JMI’s presence at the national-level sporting event. The university administration congratulated Mukabir on his achievement. Prof. Mazhar Asif, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia, praised the young shooter for his performance and sportsmanship. He extended his best wishes for Mukabir’s future competitions and expressed hope that he would continue to represent the university with distinction. Prof. Md. Mahtab Alam Rizvi, Registrar of JMI, also appreciated Mukabir’s efforts and wished him success in upcoming tournaments. Prof. Nafis Ahmad, Honorary Director of Games and Sports at JMI, commended Mukabir’s hard work and commitment to shooting. He encouraged him to continue improving his skills and assured him of the university’s support in his sporting journey. Mukabir’s achievement highlights the role of structured training and institutional encouragement in nurturing student athletes. His performance at the National Sikh Games marks an important step in his early sporting career and reflects positively on Jamia Millia Islamia’s sports programme.
