A significant improvement was recorded at identified black spots where accidents dropped to 33 in 2025, compared to 46 in 2024 and 75 in 2023, the data showed. Police attributed the trend to targeted interventions at high-risk stretches, including traffic engineering measures, improved signage and focused enforcement. The data showed that the decline in deaths also coincided with multiple traffic management measures, including signal synchronisation, enforcement drives against drunk driving and wrong-side driving and restrictions on heavy vehicle entry during peak hours. These steps, police said, helped reduce the severity of crashes even as vehicle volume continued to grow. The statistics showed that while fatalities declined, the overall accident burden remained high. Grievous injury accidents increased steadily from 607 in 2023 to 659 in 2024, and further to 674 in 2025. Minor injury accidents also remained elevated, with 744 such cases reported this year, nearly matching the 745 cases recorded in 2024.Non-injury accidents stood at 168 in 2025, marginally lower than the 182 cases reported in 2024 but higher than the 137 cases recorded in 2023. The total number of accidents during the Jan-Dec 22, 2025 period reached 1,326, slightly lower than the 1,403 accidents reported in 2024.
