Man arrested for stabbing landlord in Central Delhi

New Delhi: Police arrested a man for allegedly stabbing his landlord with a meat cleaver in Central Delhi’s Chandni Mahal, leaving him critically injured. The man was identified as Jugnu (42). He had a grudge after being evicted from the premises through court orders about a year and a half ago.According to police, the incident occurred around 5.45pm near Rakabganj’s Badi Masjid when the landlord, a 60-year-old man, was returning home after offering prayers. “Jugnu, who was earlier a tenant in the area, allegedly attacked him from behind, stabbing him near the chest before fleeing. The landlord was rushed to LNJP Hospital by his son, who witnessed the attack,” DCP (central) Nidhin Valsan said adding that he is still undergoing medical treatment.A police team analysed footage from over 50 CCTV cameras and used technical surveillance to trace Jugnu’s movement and arrested him on Dec 20 from Delhi gate area. The weapon and bloodstained clothes were recovered.
