Portion of building’s terrace wall collapses in Vasai; Residents evacuated, no one injured

Vasai: Portion of a terrace boundary wall of a building fell on Wednesday around 7pm. The debris fell on the garage on the ground floor. The garage owner alerted the residents as well as police and Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation authorities. No one was injured in the incident. VVMC commissioner Manojkumar Suryawanshi reached the spot with his team and immediately ordered that the entire building be vacated. The fire brigade and polic assisted in evacuating the residents.The building, Adinath, is located at Virat Nagar, Virar west and is around 30-years-old. It is a three-storey building and houses 11 flats of which two are empty while the remaining are occupied by families. This building also has 5 shops. Fire brigade officials said that later they would allow residents to access the building and collect important belongings.
