Nagpur: Maharashtra govt has made it mandatory for liquor shops holding FL-2 (IMFL/imported) and CL-3 (Indian-made) licences — both domestic and foreign liquor retail outlets — to obtain a no-objection certificate (NOC) from the registered housing society before relocating the establishment to residential areas, informed deputy chief minister and excise minister Ajit Pawar in the state assembly on Wednesday.Responding to a question raised by MLA Shankar Jagtap, Pawar said if a liquor shop falls within a society’s premises, relocation permission will not be granted without the society’s consent. He emphasised that this condition will now be strictly enforced for all FL-2 and CL-3 licence holders.Pawar also cited examples from Pimpri-Chinchwad, where action was taken against two unauthorised liquor shops in Koliwada and Rahatani suburb. One of the cases is pending in court, and further action will be taken as per the high court’s orders, while the other shop was previously fined Rs 50,000.
