Special trains by Mumbai’s Central and Western Railway help 32,000 stranded Indigo flyers in just 2 days

Mumbai: Special trains operated by Central Railway (CR) and Western Railway (WR) to assist passengers stranded after Indigo flight cancellations have carried 32,000 travellers in two days. CR moved 20,000, while WR carried 12,000 passengers.Mumbai–Delhi and Mumbai–Lucknow special trains recorded 100% occupancy, and other routes averaged 79%. With the holiday rush building, railways plan to introduce more services. Special trains are running on key routes including CSMT–Hazrat Nizamuddin, LTT–Lucknow, CSMT–Nagpur, CSMT–Howrah, LTT–Sealdah, LTT–Madgaon, Pune–Nizamuddin, Rewa, Gorakhpur, Bilaspur and Delhi.CR operated 18 specials on Dec 6 to Dec 7, carrying 17,000 reserved passengers. WR ran six services from Mumbai Central and Bandra Terminus to New Delhi, Durgapura and Bilaspur. Officials said more trains will be added based on demand.
