An officer from the Sant Tukaramnagar police said that the complainant came into contact with the accused through an acquaintance. The latter told the victim that he would have to pay Rs 2.20 lakh as an advance to the person, and in return, the latter would give him a cheque for that amount and make an agreement. “The victim and eight others collectively gave Rs 20 lakh to the accused and his son,” the officer said.He said that when the victim and others did not receive the flats, they started pursuing the father-and-son duo for their money. “When they found that a cheating case was already registered against the duo with the Pimpri police, the victim approached the Sant Tukaramnagar police and lodged a complaint,” he said.
