Mumbai horror: Man held for slashing wife and daughter with blade in Dahisar

MUMBAI: Dahisar Police arrested a 37-year-old man for slashing his wife and minor daughter with a blade, injuring them grievously. Hanuman Sonawale, the accused, has been booked on charges of attempted murder.Police said Sonawale suspected his wife, Rajshri’s, fidelity and often fought with her. He was unemployed and an alcoholic, police said.

Early on Dec 1, Rajshri and the couple’s daughter were asleep at their residence at Dahisar East. Sonawale arrived home late. Police said he slashed his daughter on the neck with a blade in the dark room. She woke up with fright when she sensed blood oozing out and turned on the lights. Sonawale then slashed his wife on the stomach with the blade. She raised an alarm and Sonawale was subsequently caught and handed over to the police. Police said their daughter was administered five stitches on the neck.
