DU college to study ageing via indigenous lens

New Delhi: DU’s Jesus and Mary College is partnering with universities across the country to explore the science of living longer, healthier lives with a focus on indigenous knowledge systems. From cutting-edge experiments in Silicon Valley labs to centuries-old practices in Himalayan monasteries, the pursuit of longevity has always drawn from science, environment, and human wisdom. Through this collaboration, students can explore this spectrum. A key focus is on indigenous mountain communities. This approach aligns closely with NEP’s emphasis on holistic, interdisciplinary learning. The partnership will also open avenues for research on tribal art and culture, faculty and student exchanges, digital learning projects, and field-based studies. As one JMC teacher explained, ” Technology promises the mechanical prolongation of years. Butlongevity is less about immortality than about balance, the alignment of mind, body, and environment that sustains vitality across the years.”
