In most Indian families, wedding planning begins long before the actual celebrations. In Hindu homes, the preparations often start with a visit to the astrologer. Kundali matching, muhurat calculation, dosh analysis, and planetary alignments become sacred checkpoints before two people take vows in front of the holy fire.
Yet, there exists a rare divine exception called Aboojh Muhurat, the days so auspicious that they override every astrological hurdle.
How Abujh Muhurat Works
The word Abujh literally means “that which cannot be calculated.” It refers to moments in the Hindu calendar that are believed to be so spiritually charged and cosmically aligned that every second of the day is considered holy.
Unlike regular muhurtas, which are based on precise astrological calculations, an Aboojh Muhurat is considered naturally auspicious.
On these days, there is no need to consult an astrologer, no need to match the kundalis, no dosh is strong enough to interfere. The belief is simple—when the universe itself opens its gates of good fortune, nothing can block the harmony of a union.
Why Abujh Muhurat For Wedding Matter?
Weddings in India are deeply rooted in cultural symbolism. Families worry about mangal dosh, the compatibility of guna, the position of stars, and the ideal nakshatra. An ill-chosen muhurt is believed to affect marital harmony, prosperity, and emotional compatibility.
However, an Aboojh Muhurat dissolves all these concerns. The cosmic environment is said to be so satvik, so pure and energetically balanced, that even individuals with supposedly “difficult” horoscopes can marry without fear.

In many communities, especially across Rajasthan, Gujarat, MP, UP and parts of Maharashtra, these days have become a wedding festival in themselves.
Entire villages hold mass weddings, priests perform multiple ceremonies at once, and families who struggled to find a suitable date finally breathe a sigh of relief.
The Five Auspicious Aboojh Muhurat Days
Even though different regions recognise a few variations, the Hindu calendar highlights certain days that are universally accepted as Aboojh Muhurats. These are days when planetary alignments create a naturally auspicious environment—almost like the universe placing a protective halo around every couple tying the knot.
Basant Panchami
Basant Panchami arrives in January–February on the 5th day (Panchami) of Shukla Paksha in the Magha month. This marks the arrival of spring—a season of renewal, fertility, and new beginnings.
Dedicated to Goddess Saraswati, the day exudes purity and calm, making it an ideal time for sacred rituals. Many families believe marriages held on this day result in wisdom, peace, and a joyful household.
Akshaya Tritiya
Falling in April–May, Akshaya Tritiya occurs on the 3rd day (Tritiya) of the bright fortnight (Shukla Paksha) in Vaishakh. The word Akshaya means “never diminishing,” and wedding rituals performed on this day are believed to bring a lifetime of abundance, longevity, and unbroken marital harmony. For many communities, Akshaya Tritiya is the default date for marriages when no other muhurat works.
Phulera Dooj
Observed mainly in Braj, UP, and Rajasthan, Phulera Dooj falls on the 2nd day (Dwitiya) of the Shukla Paksha in the Phalguna month. Associated with Lord Krishna, the day is considered cheerful and spiritually light.
It is believed that no negative planetary force holds any power on this day, which is why it is one of the rare occasions when no kundali matching is needed at all.
Bhadlya Navami (Bhadli Navami)
Particularly auspicious in Rajasthan and Gujarat, Bhadlya Navami falls on the 9th day (Navami) of the Shukla Paksha in the Ashadha month. On this day, planetary movements are believed to pause in a rare, spiritually balanced state.
Because astrologers consider it “calculation-free,” the entire day is naturally auspicious for weddings—no charts, no dosh checks, no matching required.
Dev Uthani Ekadashi (Prabodhini Ekadashi)
Dev Uthani Ekadashi, also known as Prabodhini Ekadashi, occurs on the 11th day (Ekadashi) of Shukla Paksha in Kartik—the day when Lord Vishnu awakens after Chaturmas.
Considered one of the holiest days for new beginnings, Dev Uthani Ekadashi holds great significance for marriages.
It symbolises divine approval for domestic life, stability, and prosperity. Many communities believe that when Vishnu awakens, the blessings for the grihastha life return in full force.
How is Abujh Muhurat relevant Today?
Aboojh Muhurat is becoming increasingly relevant today, especially as many couples prefer to avoid the complexity of astrology. They do not want to get into kundali matching, dosh analysis or long lists of remedies.
These divine dates also make it easier for families to agree on a wedding day without debates or delays. Aboojh Muhurat removes the obstacles that come with searching for a so called correct muhurat.
In many ways, it offers a comforting cultural middle ground, allowing couples to honour tradition without the stress of calculations.
But Does This Mean Astrology Doesn’t Matter?
Not quite. Many families still opt for kundali matching and personalised dates even on Aboojh Muhurats. For them, it adds an extra layer of assurance.
However, the beauty of these divine days lies in their universality. Whether or not you believe in astrology, Aboojh Muhurat represents harmony, purity, and the emotional significance of shared rituals that unite families.
