Pune: Senior representatives of the local Petrol Dealers Association met police commissioner Amitesh Kumar on Thursday and demanded stronger protection, days after two back-to-back assaults on attendants at IOC fuel stations in Yerawada and Bhairoba Nullah triggered concern across the fuel retail network, .The CP assured that strict action would be taken against the offenders. He also said the safety of fuel pump workers is a top priority. A representative of the dealers’ association said, “We met the police chief. Police have committed to curbing such incidents with enhanced vigilance and preventive measures.”A larger coordination meeting with senior police officials from across the district is now being scheduled to finalise a detailed security plan for fuel pumps, especially during night hours.
