Pune: A 29-year-old employee of a defence establishment in Khadki was duped of Rs 1.5 lakh while trying to return a pillow he bought online. The fraud occurred on Nov 7. He approached the police on Tuesday.According to the complaint, the victim was unable to initiate the return process on the e-commerce website, and contacted a “customer care” number he found online. The man then got a call from an unknown number, with the caller telling him to download a remote access app on his phone. The fraudsters gained access to the phone and transferred Rs 1.5 lakh from his bank account through two transactions.
