Minimum temps in city likely to go up after Nov 15 | Pune News

Pune: The city is expected to get a brief respite from the chill, with minimum temperatures likely to rise by 1–2°C from Nov 15 due to a shift in wind pattern.According to India Meteorological Department (IMD) data, Shivajinagar recorded a minimum of 13.4°C on Tuesday, with Pashan at 13.1°C, Lohegaon at 16.4°C, and Chinchwad and Lavale at 16.8°C and 16.4°C, respectively. The Met department’s weekly forecast shows minimums in Shivajinagar in the 13–14°C range till Nov 14, before gradually increasing thereafter. Speaking to TOI, SD Sanap, IMD scientist, said the expected rise is linked to a weakening of the dry, cold northwesterly winds that have dominated the region in recent days. “Minimum temperatures are likely to increase by around 1–2° after Nov 14,” he said. “Right now, cold and dry northwesterlies are prevailing at lower levels, keeping night temperatures low. But from Nov 15, these winds are expected to shift, allowing easterly winds from the south to intrude into Maharashtra,” Sanap said.He added that this change in circulation would bring a marginal increase in moisture, though not enough to trigger rain.“The influence of dry, cold winds will reduce, and the easterly flow will become more dominant. Some moisture incursion is likely, but we are not expecting rainfall. The rise in minimums should hold for about three to four days,” he said.
