Pune: A state-appointed expert committee, set up to frame Maharashtra’s three-language policy under the National Education Policy 2020, will visit Pune on Thursday to gather public suggestions before finalising its recommendations.The committee, headed by prominent educationist Narendra Jadhav, aims to determine how and from which class the three-language formula should be implemented in schools across Maharashtra.Deputy director of education for Pune division, Ganpat More, said, “The group will hold a full-day consultation at Zumber Hall in the divisional commissioner’s office at Vidhan Bhavan in Pune from 10am to 5pm on Nov 13. The divisional visit is part of a statewide exercise to collect ground-level feedback on language learning needs and local concerns before finalising the policy.”Officials said the committee will interact with a wide range of stakeholders, including citizens, language experts, thinkers, political leaders, elected representatives, teacher organisations, parent-teacher associations, education activists and institutions working for Marathi and other languages. Inputs gathered during the Pune meeting will form a key part of the final policy document.The committee also includes former chairperson of the language advisory committee Sadanand More, former director of the national school of drama Waman Kendre, educationist Aparna Morris, head of linguistics at Deccan College Post Graduate and Research Institute Sonal Kulkarni Joshi, educationist from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Dr Madhushree Savji, child psychologist Dr Bhushan Shukla, and state project director of Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan Sanjay Yadav, who serves as the member secretary.
