Pune: Eight daily wage workers sustained injuries after a truck they were travelling in turned on its side near Sakurdi village in Khed taluka, about 60km from Pune, on Saturday morning. The condition of three workers is critical.The police said that the accident occurred as the truck driver lost control on the steep slope, causing the vehicle to turn on its side. The injured are undergoing treatment in a nearby rural hospital.An officer from the Pune rural police said the truck, carrying slab material, was heading towards Lohkare Vasti from Nirmalwadi for the construction work of a house slab. The cement mixer’s trolley was connected to the truck. Eight daily wage workers were also travelling in the same truck. “While driving the steep slope of a hillock at Sakurdi, the driver lost control, and the truck turned on its side,” the officer said.He mentioned that the workers in the truck sustained injuries in the accident. The locals rushed to the spot and sent the injured victims to the nearby hospital. “Three of the victims sustained fractures to their hands and legs. We have registered a case of negligent driving against the driver,” the officer said.
