NEW DELH: Delhi chief minister Rekha Gupta praised the Indian women’s cricket team for winning the Women’s ODI World Cup, defeating South Africa by 52 runs.She said that the victory is for “every girl with a bat or a book who now sees her own boundless potential mirrored in this shining triumph.”

The future is Blue,” she added.Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also congratulated the Indian women’s cricket team on their victory.“Heartiest congratulations and best wishes to the Indian women’s cricket team for defeating South Africa in the ICC World Cup final and becoming world champions!” Dhami said in a post on X.“With tireless hard work, dedication, and unwavering self-confidence, you have enhanced the prestige of the country on the global stage. We are proud of you,” he added.Indian batting icon Virat Kohli hailed the national women’s team, saying that they deserve all the applause for their historic feat, which saw “years of hard work come to life finally”.After losing the finals in 2005 and 2017, Team India finally got their due. The Women in Blue outclassed first-time finalists South Africa by 52 runs, securing their first-ever World Cup crown across T20I and ODI formats. Shafali Verma and Deepti Sharma starred with brilliant all-round performances to seal the victory.“The girls have created history, and I could not be prouder as an Indian to see the hard work of so many years come to life finally.
