Mumbai: Police arrested a 28-year-old man for killing his 64-year-old roommate over a SIM card dispute at their Bandra (W) home on Thursday. Both the victim, Shivajee Banarassing and the accused, Sanjeev Yadav, worked as a caretaker. “Yadav is in police custody till Oct 13,” said a police officer. The deceased, the accused, and a few others lived together on the first floor of the public toilet near Mehboob Studio. Banarassing’s SIM card had gone missing, and he suspected Yadav had stolen it. After the altercation escalated a few days later, Yadav allegedly strangled Banarassing. “Yadav did not inform anyone about the incident but told the public toilet manager that the victim was unconscious. The manager called the police. Yadav was picked for questioning on suspicion,” said police.
