No knee-deep water, but traffic affected

New Delhi: An intense spell of rain on Tuesday evening resulted in traffic snarls across key junctions and arterial roads. Sources from PWD said there was no “major knee-deep” water, but accumulation was reported in Mundka, Samaypur Badli, Najafgarh, Brijpuri, Nangloi, Vasant Enclave, Sadar Bazar and Chandni Chowk. In Sadar Bazar market, heavy rain turned dug-up internal roads into a slushy mess, with traders complaining of water entering their shops. Traffic slowed to a crawl on Ring Road, Outer Ring Road, ITO and Mathura Road, as two-wheelers stopped under flyovers for shelter. Delays were reported on Vande Mataram Marg, Mukarba Chowk, Khajuri Flyover, Mahipalpur Flyover, Karol Bagh and stretches leading to the airport. A social media user said, “Traffic congestion at Kalindi Kunj junction due to a sharp road turn and bottleneck towards Madanpur Khadar, along with waterlogging and potholes on the Noida side.” Congestion was also reported at the Gurgaon-Delhi border.Founder of Dwarka Forum Rejimon CK said there were severe jams on RTR and NH-48, adding that waterlogging was reported near Anand Niketan and Vasant Vihar.
