Cong and BJP spar over ‘vote theft’ claims

New Delhi: Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Devender Yadav on Sunday accused BJP of “vote theft” in east Delhi’s Babarpur. He claimed that the signature campaign of Congress against “vote rigging” received an overwhelming response across the capital.Yadav alleged that vote theft was a serious wrongdoing through which BJP, in collusion with the Election Commission, undermined the constitutional rights of citizens and subverted democracy. He said that Rahul Gandhi exposed “malpractices” in two assembly segments, “proving the conspiracy to overturn the people’s verdict”.“Congress is confident that the youth of the country will protect the Constitution”.Hitting back, Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor said that Congress was “totally disconnected” from the people of Delhi and was running the campaign in the city’s outskirts merely to please Rahul Gandhi. tnn
