New Delhi: DU has barred the use of flower bouquets, mementos, and other gift items in its colleges, introducing a new protocol that changes how campus events take place. To avoid unnecessary expenditure, the university has encouraged organisers to present a single flower string, an angavastram (stole), or a fruit basket at functions. The notification issued on Sep 26 directs that fruits offered on such occasions must be distributed among underprivileged children in govt schools or orphanages. TNN
