Pune: Lions Club screens 250 police for cancer; grain kits given to workers; anniversary celebrated
The Lions Club of Poona Nigdi, in collaboration with various organizations, conducted free breast, cervical, and oral cancer screenings

PUNE: On September 17, the Lions Club of Poona Nigdi commemorated the 78th birth anniversary of 2 D MJF Haridas Nair by conducting breast, cervical, and oral cancer screening in association with the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate, Onco Lifecare, and Face and Dental Clinic. The initiative aimed to provide free screenings to promote early detection and prevention of breast, cervical, and oral cancers. A successful screening was conducted for 250 police personnel. The event was graced by Lions Club District Governor PMJF Ln Rajesh Agarwal, Deputy Commissioner of Police Shweta Khedkar, and Umesh Agarwal. The Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate provided full support throughout the activity. Deputy Commissioner of Police Shweta Khedkar emphasised the importance of early cancer detection, noting that timely treatment can lead to successful recovery. District Governor PMJF Lion Rajesh Agarwal extended his best wishes and highlighted the need for early cancer screening. The event was coordinated by Lions Club of Poona Nigdi President Lion Rashmi Nair, along with Dr Prakash Patil and Dr Gauri Patil from Face and Dental Clinic and Onco Lifecare. MJF Lion Harsh Nair sponsored the event and made all necessary arrangements. Lion Sanjay Nimbalkar served as the master of ceremonies. The event was also attended by Secretary Manjiri Kulkarni, Treasurer Shivkanya Musmade, Vice President Shilpi Kumar, R S Kumar (ex-Mayor), Maruti Musmade, Prashant Kulkarni, Jayashree Mande, Ajitkumar Deshpande, Sudan More, Salim Shikalgar, Dilipsinh Mohite, Chandrashekhar Pawar, Bhagyashree Pawar, and Pravin Shelar. Additionally, the Lions Club of Poona Nigdi distributed grain kits to household workers to mark the birth anniversary of 2 D MJF Haridas Nair. Though he is no longer with us, his memory and spirit continue to inspire and guide the community. The distribution of 15 grain kits was sponsored and coordinated by MJF Chandrashekhar Pawar and Bhagyashree Pawar.
