Mumbai: Major General Vivek Tyagi, recently appointed as Additional Director General of the Maharashtra NCC Directorate, made a courtesy call on Advocate Manikrao Kokate, Hon’ble Sports & Youth Affairs Minister of Maharashtra, at Mantralaya in Mumbai. The meeting briefed on important ongoing NCC initiatives, including the expansion being undertaken to increase the enrolled strength of the state up to 1,21,878 cadets, with a large representation of girl cadets and thereby enhancing the reach of NCC to more colleges and schools in Maharashtra. The Minister assured the ADG of immediate action to urgently address the infrastructure and staffing needs of the Directorate. The Minister also instructed his staff to fill up staff voids and authorise additional vacancies for NCC units to support its expansion.
