Mobile office to provide doorstep governance: CM

New Delhi: Chief minister Rekha Gupta on Saturday launched a “mobile office” called ‘MLA on Wheels’ from Janakpuri constituency in West Delhi. The govt said the aim was to provide facilities within localities and ensure speedy redressal of grievances. “Democracy is strengthened only when people’s problems are resolved at their doorsteps. The mobile office will serve as a bridge between the govt and the people,” said Gupta, inaugurating the ‘MLA on Wheels – Rekha Sarkar Aapke Dvaar’ from the MLA office at Old Pankha road. The service was flagged off during the ‘Sewa Pakhwada’ initiative marking the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Gupta said the mobile office will benefit mothers, women, the elderly and persons with disabilities. “This vehicle will reach their homes, interact with them and ensure their concerns are addressed,” she asserted. The launch event was also attended by West Delhi MP Kamaljeet Sehrawat and Delhi home minister Ashish Sood, who represents Janakpuri. Sood said the mobile office will travel across the constituency, meet people directly, register their grievances and forward them to the concerned departments. He added that a stenographer and a clerk have been deployed in the vehicle with a laptop to ensure complaints are recorded and sent to the MLA for prompt action. He noted nowhere else in the country does such a mobile office system exist. TNN
