Mumbai: Union minister and Mumbai-North MP Piyush Goyal on Wednesday announced the introduction of mammography units to screen women for cancer as part of BMC’s Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar campaign. The units would be deployed in every slum in his constituency, said Goyal, who also assured the distribution of nutritional food to pregnant women through the programme. He also attended the virtual launch of the Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar campaign by PM Modi in Madhya Pradesh, which will run till Oct 2. Goyal added that women in Mumbai- north constituency will undergo monthly check-ups from the fifth month of pregnancy through ASHA workers, and nutritious food will be provided to undernourished pregnant women. From then, until two to three months after delivery, the diet and health of the newborn will also be monitored and supported.
