New Delhi: Delhi Police Crime Branch has arrested an arms supplier and three receivers, recovering a large cache of firearms and ammunition with links traced to the Neeraj Bawania gang and other criminal syndicates. 15 semi-automatic pistols, 150 live rounds of various calibres, and 8 additional magazines were seized.Police received an input about the circulation of illegal weapons in Delhi. “On Aug11, a trap was laid near the parking area of Netaji Subhash Place District Centre, where the accused Mohammad Shajid alias Rashid (42) was apprehended. He is a resident of Wazirpur JJ Colony, Ashok Vihar. Shajid was caught in his car with a consignment of 10 sophisticated pistols, 118 live rounds, and 8 extra magazines,” DCP (Crime) Harsh Indora said.A case was registered under sections of the Arms Act. “During interrogation, Shajid revealed he was supplying weapons to multiple gangs in the city, including the Neeraj Bawania gang and the Afsar gang. He further admitted to sourcing arms from Meerut and Mawana in Uttar Pradesh and supplying over 100 illegal firearms to gangsters in recent years,” DCP Indora said.Based on his disclosures, police team carried out follow-up operations leading to the arrest of three more receivers of firearms. On Aug 17, accused Vishal Rana alias Bhola (28), was arrested with one pistol and three live rounds. On Sept 9, Aniket alias Pardeep (32), was apprehended with one semi-automatic pistol and two live rounds. Finally, on Sept 13, Saurabh Dhingra alias Manny (38), was arrested with three pistols and 27 live rounds. TNN
