New Delhi: A 30-year-old man was shot and another critically injured when two groups allegedly fired at the each other in northeast Delhi’s Karawal Nagar in the early hours of Saturday. Police are investigating whether the violence was triggered by a property dispute or personal enmity. After receiving a call about a gunfight near Nanak Dairy in Kamal Vihar, a police team found a man lying unconscious with gunshot wounds. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. The deceased was later identified as Rohit Yadav, a resident of Bhopura in Ghaziabad.Preliminary investigation revealed that two to three men fired at Rohit before fleeing the spot. A case of murder was registered at Karawal Nagar police station. Police later found that both groups had a heated argument two-three days ago, indicating ongoing tension probably due to a land dispute or personal feud. At 1.36am, police received another call about a man injured in the same gunfight. Vishal Mavi, a 28-year-old resident of Laxmi Garden in Loni, Uttar Pradesh, is undergoing treatment at a hospital. A separate case was registered under Section 109 (attempt to murder) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and sections 25-27 of Arms Act.
