New Delhi: Delhi Police’s crime branch has arrested a truck driver and three of his associates for stealing 6,000 kg of copper scrap worth Rs 55 lakh. The driver, Manish Kumar, who initially posed as a victim, was revealed as one of the key conspirators.Kumar claimed that robbers impersonating bank officials had stopped his vehicle while transporting the scrap, packed in 80 bags, from Libaspur to Mandoli. The incident took place near Signature Bridge on Ring Road around 11am on Tuesday. According to him, the impostors entered the vehicle and injected him with a drug. He said the consignment was stolen while he was unconscious.An FIR was registered under several sections, including theft of the BNS Act at New Usmanpur police station.DCP (Crime) Harsh Indora, who formed a team under Inspector Pukhraj Singh, said: “After reviewing CCTV footage and call records, investigators found Kumar’s statements inconsistent and suspicious. He eventually confessed to being a key conspirator.” Kumar’s associates, Aditya, Arun Soni and Ramzan, were also arrested. Soni, a local junk dealer from Kotla Vihar, was identified as the mastermind. He recruited Ramzan, who knew how to administer injections, to handle logistics.
