Mumbai: Shiv Sena and Sena (UBT) members clashed over beautification work at Prabhadevi Cricle

Mumbai: Shiv Sena clashed with Sena (UBT) Prabhadevi on Friday over beautification works at Prabhadevi Circle. Sena functionaries said there was an argument between the two Senas over the beautification works as both parties claimed they got funds for the work. As party activists from the rival factions came face to face, there was a scuffle, and the police registered a non-cognizable offence against some party workers. The clash took place between supporters of local Sena (UBT) MLA Mahesh Sawant and former Sena MLA Sada Sarvankar.Former Sena Corporator Samadhan Sarvankar said his contractors had the work order since they got funds from the BMC for the project. “Even before this, former MLA Sada Sarvankar provided funds for this chowk and did the work. The work has been going on for 10 days. But wherever we have worked, where our names are, some people are painting and putting their names on it. If that was the case, he (Mahesh Sawant) should have brought funds from the District Planning and Development Council (DPDC),” Samadhan Sarvankar said.Former Sena (UBT) Corporator Kishori Pednekar said Sarvankar was elected because of the blessings of Sena (UBT) Chief Uddhav Thackeray. “These are BMC funds, and so there is no question of anyone else getting the funds. Their govt has stopped funds for all our MLAs and elected representatives. People know who is doing work and who is getting funds. This govt is giving funds to former MahaYuti Corporators and not to Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) former Corporators,” Pednekar said.
