Bombay HC receives bomb threat email; hearings suspended, building evacuated

NEW DELHI: The Bombay High Court complex was evacuated on Friday afternoon after receiving a bomb threat email, leading to suspension of hearings and triggering an immediate search operation by police and bomb detection teams.The threat was received on the high court’s official email address, warning of a potential bomb blast in the building.Police officials rushed to the scene and implemented standard operating procedures, evacuating all judges, lawyers, staff, and visitors from the premises as a precautionary measure.“The building was evacuated as per the standard operating procedures (SOPs) and a search operation is currently underway with the help of the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) and a dog squad,” an official stated.The official noted that various prominent establishments and schools in Mumbai had received similar bomb threats recently, and assured there was no need to panic.In a related development, the Delhi High Court also received a bomb threat email earlier the same day. According to sources, the email claimed three bombs were placed in judges’ rooms or the court complex and demanded evacuation by 2 pm.“The threat email was received on the official email address of the Bombay High Court, which warned of a bomb blast in the building,” the official said.Law enforcement officials continue their search operations at both high court premises to ensure safety and security.
