Pune: The Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) on Monday issued notices to three developers — Gera Developments, Godrej Properties and VTP Realty — for creating traffic hazard on certain roads in Hinjewadi Phase-III. Officials said vehicles transporting excavated material and ready-mix concrete (RMC) from these construction sites had mud on their tyres, which was deposited onto the roads, making them dangerously slippery.About four to five two-wheelers slipped on the roads because of this, MIDC executive engineer RG Totla stated in the notice.MIDC has instructed the developers to install tyre wash pits at their construction sites and ensure that no vehicle entered public roads without cleaning the tyres. Additionally, the developers have been directed to clean the roads every evening to prevent mud accumulation on the surface. MIDC has also issued a notice to PMRDA, urging the development authority to monitor similar violations within its jurisdiction and take appropriate action.Hinjewadi techie Krunal Taksale said, “Trucks continuously ply on the roads, which caused the mud to accumulate on the roads, turning them slippery and accident-prone.”Sujay Dhumal, a frequent commuter to the area, said there were several residential projects near the Megapolis residential complexes. “Some days back, authorities had cleaned up the roads but the frequent movement of trucks made them muddy again,” he said.Gera Developments said there were many projects under construction in the Megapolis area in Hinjewadi Phase-III. “It is in full compliance with the applicable requirements, and all measures suggested by the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) and MIDC, including tyre washing at site exits and regular road cleaning, have already been implemented. No further action is pending from our side in relation to this notice,” Gera Developments said in a statement to the media query.VTP Realty said it was yet to officially receive any communication from any authority so far, and it would ensure that it complied with the guidelines in case of any violations. “At VTP Realty, we consistently follow all prescribed processes and construction compliances with utmost care. Our teams take care to follow all rules on a daily basis. This remains an ongoing and continuous process,” the developer said.Godrej Properties did not respond to TOI query till going to press.
