Faux fashion factory: Man held for running fake Dior, Fendi unit in Shalimar Bagh

New Delhi: At first glance, the items appeared to be high-end fashion—Dior jeans, Fendi sunglasses, and designer belts—but when Delhi Police seized the stock during a recent raid, they uncovered a racket selling counterfeit luxury goods as genuine at exorbitant prices in the city’s retail markets. The accused, identified as Mohit Sachdeva (35), was arrested following a raid conducted by a police team at his shop located in BT Block, Shalimar Bagh, on Sunday. Sachdeva, who posed as an authorised distributor, allegedly produced fake apparel and accessories, and sold them in the market as genuine luxury goods. According to police, the raid was initiated after a complaint was received from a brand representative who flagged the large-scale production and circulation of fake products bearing luxury brand logos. “Acting on the information, the police team raided the shop and arrested Sachdeva. Large quantities of counterfeit items with Dior and Fendi tags and logos were recovered from the premises,” said additional DCP (northwest) Sikandar Singh. The seized stock included counterfeit Fendi-branded items such as four printed T-shirts, two caps, three lowers, five pairs of footwear, a belt, and three sunglasses. Police recovered nine shirts, three T-shirts, three jeans, seven sunglasses, two wristwatches, four pairs of socks, a cap, eight pairs of footwear, brand tags, and packaging bearing fake Dior logo. Police said the accused not only ran the shop but also owned the illegal manufacturing unit. “During interrogation, he confessed that he had set up the facility to make shorts, T-shirts, lowers, belts, sunglasses and caps, which were then branded with fake Dior and Fendi labels before being sold as original stock,” the senior police officer added. Police have registered an FIR under sections of the Copyright Act and Trademark Act at Shalimar Bagh police station. Further investigation is underway to identify his supply chain and customers.
