Proposed township in Neral near Mumbai will not be allowed, says Maharashtra minister Bawankule

Mumbai: State revenue minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule on Friday said that the halal township will not be allowed in Karjat. “No township or scheme will be allowed in the name of halal. Even the boards promoting such schemes will be thrown out,” said Bawankule.A controversy erupted after an advertisement for a proposed township in Neral in Karjat went viral on social media. A complaint against the promotional video was filed by Priyank Kanoongo, chairperson of the National Commission for the Protection of Child Rights. The promotional video shows a woman describing the township as a place where children can grow safely in a halal environment. The video shows the township offering amenities such as prayer spaces and community gatherings within walking distance.
