New Delhi: A fortnight after she was attacked by a man during a public meeting, chief minister Rekha Gupta on Wednesday morning resumed jan sunwais at her camp office amid tight security.From 8am onwards, people from various parts of the city came forward to register their grievances and sought CM’s help. Gupta sat on a chair as citizens approached her one by one, submitted their applications and interacted with her through a microphone placed on her desk. Earlier, she used to move among the gathered crowd at her residence-cum-camp office and speak to them directly. During the public hearing, police personnel, including women officers, formed a protective circle around chief minister Gupta. To prevent any untoward incidents, adequate security measures were taken, including frisking participants with metal detectors and monitoring proceedings through CCTV cameras. On Aug 20, a man from Rajkot, Gujarat, had attacked Gupta during a public hearing at her camp office, the Chief Minister Jan Seva Sadan, located on Raj Niwas Marg. Several men and women gathered at CM’s residence since early Wednesday morning seeking govt assistance and hoping to resolve their problems. Officials said there were complaints regarding missing relatives and people suffering from serious diseases who sought aid. At least 165 people submitted their complaints and suggestions to Gupta, who directed necessary action, said officials. In a post on social media platform X, CM said she met people from across the city and instructed officials for the prompt resolution of their grievances. “Conversations with the public always fill me with new energy and deepen my commitment to service. The public hearing is a new tradition,” She said, adding, “During these hearings, every citizen’s voice is heard, and every suggestion becomes a symbol of Delhi’s development.” Gupta stressed that public service and grievance redressal remain the top priority of Delhi govt. Several officials from Municipal Corporation of Delhi, New Delhi Municipal Council, Delhi Jal Board, Public Works Department and other govt departments were present on the occasion for redressal of grievances.
