Pune: A boy (16) died and his 10-year-old friend sustained injuries in a hit-and-run accident after a motorcycle they were riding was hit by a mini-truck on Monday night at Bhosari MIDC.The victims were out to visit Ganapati Mandals in Pimpri Chinchwad. The victim’s father, who works in a company at MIDC, lodged a complaint with the Bhosari MIDC police.Sub-inspector Nilesh Talekar of the Bhosari MIDC police said the accident happened around 9.30pm when the boys were riding towards Indrayani Corner Chowk in Bhosari MIDC. “When they reached the chowk on motorcycle, the bike was hit by a mini-truck. The minor, who was riding the motorcycle, died at the spot and the boy riding pillion sustained severe injuries,” Talekar said.The officer said the police are searching for the driver of the mini-truck, who fled from the spot. Talekar said the deceased boy’s father works in a private company at MIDC and the family is from Rohtas district in Bihar. “We are investigating whether the motorcycle belonged to the boy’s father or if the boy borrowed someone else’s motorcycle,” Talekar said.
