Navi Mumbai: A Sena (UBT) branch head, Santosh Sawant (38) was among the three killed in a road mishap in Mhasla taluka, Raigad on Sunday. Sawant was driving an autorickshaw carrying six others after attending a Kunbi community meeting in the wake of the Maratha reservation quota demand. The auto met with a suspected brake failure while moving towards Goregaon under Mangaon taluka.The three were rushed to the sub-district hospital in Mangaon, where they succumbed to their injuries. Sawant has been posthumously booked for the mishap. Two others were Shantaram Dhokate (74) and Shama Dhokate (55). Four people, including an elderly had sustained major injuries.The community meeting was convened in the wake of the Maratha reservation quota demand. One of the injured Pandurang Dhokate (50) had lodged complaint with police mentioning Sawant’s speeding and losing control on the three-wheeler at a slope stretch. The auto dashed into a road side cement structure.
