Truck fatally hits bike, two killed | Pune News



Pune: Two men riding on a bike were killed after a truck hit their vehicle in front of a private hospital on Handewadi-Mantarwadi Road around 9.45am on Monday. The Phursungi police identified the deceased as casual workers Santosh Kamble (39) of Karadgaon in Ahilyanagar and Sudarshan Pulawale (38) from Uruli Devachi. The truck driver, Nagesh Korke (30) from Upali Budruk of Mahad taluka in Solapur district, was arrested on the charge of causing the victims’ death due to negligence. Pulawale was driving the bike and Kamble was riding pillion. The duo were on their way to work from Handewadi to Mantarwadi. A truck coming from behind hit their vehicle on its rear end, said senior inspector Amol More.He said the victims came under the front and the rear left wheels of the truck and died instantly because of multiple injuries. The post-mortem of the bodies was performed at Sassoon General Hospital. A police team took Korke into custody and impounded the truck for RTO inspection, he said, adding that the driver had the vehicle documents and driving licence.
