Lone bid delays plan for six air quality stations, likely completion by Nov-end

New Delhi: Delhi Pollution Control Committee has missed its Aug-end deadline to set up six new and continuous ambient air quality monitoring stations (CAAQMS) after receiving an inadequate number of bids. A fresh tender has now been issued, with the operationalisation of the stations expected to be around mid-Nov. An official said that after the tender was floated the first time, only one bid came in, which was rejected. “A fresh tender has been issued with bids to open by Sept 15. We are expecting these new stations to become operational by Nov 15,” an official said. These stations will take the total number of such facilities in the city up from 40 to 46. The stations will be two each in the south district and one each in New Delhi, central, and south-west Delhi. The six stations will be installed on the campuses of JNU, IGNOU, ISRO, Commonwealth Sports Complex, Delhi Cantonment and Netaji Subash University of Technology. TNN
