Pune: Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) is all set to extend the completion deadline for dairy farm flyover, which will connect Pimpri Gaon with old Pune-Mumbai highway. The deadline for the project elapsed on Aug 25.A senior PCMC official told TOI that since the flyover crosses the railway line, a no objection certificate (NOC) from the railway department was required, which the civic body received on Aug 4. “Most of the approach road work is nearly complete. The pending task involves construction of two pillars within the railway jurisdiction and installation of girders. For this, train movement on Pune-Mumbai line will have to be halted, and the railways will announce a block accordingly. The work will be carried out during that period,” he said.Estimated to cost Rs65 crore, the civic body issued the work order for the 565-metre, four-lane flyover project in March 2023. With the project still unfinished, officials said it is now likely be extended to Dec this year.Civic officials said a proposal for another extension will soon be sent to the municipal commissioner. Once completed, the flyover, capable of handling heavy vehicles, will ease travel for commuters from Pimpri, Pimple Saudagar, Rahatni, and nearby areas. Residents have long demanded a flyover at the spot due to frequent traffic snarls.
