Youth resorts to theft after losing job, held

Pune: A 20-year-old youth, who got married a month ago, became a chain-snatcher because of financial difficulties after losing job and landed behind the bars with his accomplice.Two arrested men — unemployed Rohan Tupare and his aide Keshav Kumbhar (18) — snatched a gold chain, worth Rs1.1 lakh of a woman on Aug 15 in Sahakarnagar. The woman later lodged a complaint with the Parvati police.The accused used a scooter to execute the crime, police said.A team headed by senior inspector Nandkumar Gaikwad and inspector Anita Hiwarkar of the Parvati police examined footage of CCTV cameras and arrested them on Wednesday night. The police said the arrested the duo was residents of Katran. The police recovered the gold chain and the scooter used in the crime.“Tupare got married a month ago and used to work in a garage. He lost his job and did not inform his family members and wife about it. He took to the crime to meet his expenses,” Hiwarkar said.
