Pune: A 22-year-old woman from Varale village in Maval taluka was found dead in a lake near the Talegaon railway station on Sunday.The woman’s family had filed a missing person’s report when she failed to respond to their calls. Sub-inspector Bharat Ware’s team from Talegaon Dabhade police station used her cellphone’s location to trace her to the lake. The police, while searching for the woman, spotted a body floating in the lake. A rescue team was then called in to fish out the body.The missing woman’s body was found around 11:45pm on Sunday. The woman worked at a local department store. According to her family, she was in a relationship and had gone to meet a person on Sunday evening.“As she did not respond to the calls, the family members got worried and approached the police. A missing person’s complaint was filed. Soon after we began tracing her cellphone, and the location was tracked near the lake near the railway station,” Ware said.“The woman’s cellphone was constantly ringing, but the team was unable to find it. After searches in the dark and mud, the police found the woman’s purse and cellphone which was on silent mode. We then entered the lake to search for the woman. After about 30 minutes, we noticed a human body in the lake and immediately alerted the rescue team — Wanyajeev Rakshak Maval team,” Ware said.“The woman was given CPR, but she was not responding. She was then taken to a hospital, where the doctors pronounced her dead,” he added. The police are yet to record the statements of the woman’s family members. “If anyone is found responsible, we will take action accordingly. So far, we have registered a case of accidental death,” Ware said.
