Pune: The Kalewadi police have recovered 20 stolen two-wheelers worth Rs8.40 lakh with the arrest of two men last week. The duo stole these vehicles from different parts of the Pimpri Chinchwad area over the last year. The police have traced the owners of 10 stolen two-wheelers. “We are trying to trace the owners of the remaining 10 vehicles,” senior police inspector Rajendra Bahirat of the Kalewadi police said.Bahirat stated that police constable Pramod Kadam received a tip-off that a person from Pachpir Chowk in Kalewadi was using a motorcycle for the last few days and his movements were suspicious. “We laid a trap in the Pachpir area and took Shubham Shinde (26) into custody along with a motorcycle. During questioning, Shinde claimed that he purchased the motorcycle from his friend Somnath Kasrung (32) of Nere village in Hinjewadi,” Bahirat said.He mentioned that the police team brought Kasrung to the police station for questioning. During the questioning, it was revealed that the motorcycle was stolen from Thergaon on July 3. A teacher from a private college in Lavale lodged a complaint with the Kalewadi police. “During the sustained questioning, the duo admitted that they stole scooters and motorcycles from different parts of Pimpri Chinchwad,” he said.Bahirat said that the police recovered 20 stolen motorcycles from them. “We have detected 10 cases and the search is on to trace the owners of 10 two-wheelers,” Bahirat said.
