Kevin Oliver’s Odyssey of Love is a modern day retelling of a classic

Bengaluru-based theatre director Kevin Oliver will be presenting a musical, Odyssey of Love, in the city this week. The production weaves music, fashion, dance and drama into “a theatrical experience,” according to the playwright who despite having hits such as Cats, Starlight Express, Joseph and the Technicolour Dreamcoat among others to his credit, was keen to create an “original opera”.

“I thought Shakuntala was the perfect little fairy tale to loosely base my story on. There is a king who enters a forest and finds this beautiful girl whom he falls in love with immediately, which never happens in real life,” laughs Kevin.
