Pune : Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Cooperation Murlidhar Mohol has been unanimously elected as the president of the Maharashtra Olympic Association during its executive and general body meetings held at the Balewadi sports complex on Sunday.The post was vacant following death of former Deputy CM Ajit Pawar, who died in a plane crash in Baramati on January 28. Pawar served as president of the association for four consecutive terms.Mohol was in the race for the post last year and was initially set to contest against Ajit Pawar. However, he later withdrew following an understanding between BJP and NCP leaders. Former MLA and association vice-president Sandeep Joshi was also unanimously chosen to preside over the meeting by the association.
