3 US nationals get ‘leave india’ notice for 'religious preaching' on tourist visas
Three American nationals have been issued a ‘Leave India Notice’ by Pune Police for violating tourist visa norms.

PUNE: Pune Police have issued a “leave India notice” to three American nationals for allegedly violating tourist visa norms by engaging in religious preaching activities. According to officials, the trio, aged 53, 65 and 66, entered India between April 19 and April 21 on tourist visas. They were later found distributing religious pamphlets in English, Hindi and Marathi in Pune’s Shukrawar Peth area. The case came to light after the group allegedly approached a cab driver and handed him pamphlets, raising suspicion. The driver alerted police, following which the foreigners were detained and questioned. A search of their belongings led to the recovery of a large number of religious printed materials. An inquiry by the Foreigners Registration Office (FRO) confirmed that their activities amounted to “prachar,” which is not permitted under a tourist visa. Based on the findings, Pune Police issued a “leave India notice” under provisions of the Immigration and Foreigners Act, directing them to exit India by May 10, 2026. Deputy Commissioner of Police (FRO) Sandeep Bhajibhakare said the action was taken strictly for violation of visa conditions.(With agency inputs)
