Pune: The Rajgad police are searching for a man who cheated a lodge owner of Rs 10,000 by posing as a policeman.The accused on Friday went to the lodge located near Shindewadi and claimed that he came to check the register of the lodge. He pretended to check the register and claimed that there were irregularities in maintaining the register. He threatened the lodge manager to take action and demanded Rs 10,000 from him.An officer from the Rajgad police said that the terrified manager gave him the money and called the owner. The latter, who stays in Katraj in Pune, told the manager to give the phone to the policeman. He, however, left the lodge in a hurry and drove away in a car.“The owner reached the lodge and checked the CCTV footage. He found the man was not in police uniform,” the officer said.He said that the owner approached the police and lodged a complaint. A case under Section 318 (cheating) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been registered against the accused. “We are searching for him,” he said.
