Three dupe techie of Rs 35 lakh in share trading frauds

Pune: A 39-year-old software engineer from Hinjewadi lost Rs 35 lakh to three unknown men, who assured him good returns on investing in stock market between July and Aug last year.The techie filed an complaint with the Pimpri Chinchwad police and after preliminary investigations, a case was registered with the Hinjewadi police on Thursday.An officer from the Hinjewadi police said in July last year, the two people contacted the techie over the phone and assured him good profits on investing in stock market.The duo took details of the techie’s two trading accounts and money from the techie. The suspects then claimed that they invested Rs 10 lakh in the stock market. “Later, the fraudsters told the techie that the latter suffered a loss in the stock market and told him to open another trading account,” the officer said.He said the duo took Aadhaar and PAN details from the techie and informed him that they have opened the demat account in his name. The duo then took Rs 20 lakh from him to different bank accounts and duped him. “Later, the third crook contacted the complainant and claimed that he ran a stock broking company before assuring him good profit. He also took Rs 5 lakh from the techie and duped him,” he said.The officer said when the techie started pursuing the trio for his money, they stopped responding to his calls. “We have registered a case of cheating and criminal breach of trust against the trio,” the officer said.
