Pune: The Shivajinagar police are searching for a person accused of stealing garments worth Rs 1.51 lakh from a mall on Ganeshkhind Road on March 19.The mall manager, Sachin Chandwade (45), a resident of Hadapsar, lodged a complaint with the Shivajinagar police on Tuesday.“At present, we are unsure whether the suspect or suspects are customers or employees of the mall,” senior inspector Girish Dighavkar of the Shivajinagar police said.“The accused picked up expensive garments from outlets of different brands and took them into the trial rooms. They removed both the price tags and electronic security tags before leaving the mall without making any payment,” he added.The incident came to light in the first week of April, after which mall authorities approached the police.“We suspect the accused may have used bags to carry the garments out of the mall,” Dighavkar said.“We will examine the mall’s CCTV footage to identify and trace the suspects,” he added.
