Pune: Mayor Manjusha Nagpure held a review meeting with Maharashtra Natural Gas Ltd (MNGL) officials on Wednesday to address the city’s growing domestic fuel needs. She directed the company officials to prioritise gas pipeline installations in underserved neighbourhoods and said all ongoing excavation and pipeline-laying work be completed within strict deadlines to minimise public inconvenience.The officials reviewed ongoing gas pipeline installations and proposed infrastructure projects across Pune. Representatives from MNGL presented status reports on current works, gas pipeline coverage and future expansion strategies for various sectors.“The agenda is expansion in areas where piped gas services are lacking. Works should be completed within deadlines. Providing safe, uninterrupted and accessible gas supply to every resident of the city remains a priority for the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC),” Nagpure said.As per PMC officials, the civic body is promoting the use of piped gas amid growing concerns of a potential LPG shortage, which could arise due to the ongoing conflict in West Asia. State and national-level agencies have appealed to the local bodies to expedite infrastructure support for faster installation.
