Sayali Surve Missing News: She made headlines returning to Hinduism. Days later, she and her four children were gone.

Miss India Earth 2019 winner Sayli Surve has gone missing from Pimpri-Chinchwad, Pune, just days after a high-profile ghar wapsi ceremony where she publicly returned to Hinduism and accused her husband of abuse and ‘love jihad’. Her parents allege her in-laws kidnapped her and her four children. Police are investigating.

Who Is Sayli Surve?

A model with a master’s degree in aviation, Sayli was, by all appearances, a woman who had it all — until she didn’t.

Weeks ago, she renamed herself Aadya Surve and made national headlines with a dramatic public return to Hinduism, accusing her estranged husband of years of physical and mental abuse. And now she has vanished — along with her four children.

Her parents allege she was kidnapped by her in-laws. The Pimpri-Chinchwad police are investigating.

So How Did This All Begin? Who Is The Husband?

Despite strong opposition from her family, Sayli had a love marriage with Mira-Bhayander-based Muslim businessman Atif Tase, and converted to Islam for the marriage, taking the name Ateza Tase.

She described marrying Atif Tase as the biggest mistake of her life. She alleged that she began facing exploitation shortly after the wedding, and said she had four children and endured the situation for many years for their sake.

When the relationship finally collapsed, she didn’t go quietly.

What Did She Say About The Abuse?

She said plenty — and she said it all on camera.

Speaking to media, Surve said: “Jab aapko 24 ghante gaaliyon ke alawa kuch sunne ko nahi milta, aur bina kisi galti ke maar-peet hoti hai, toh jo cheezein aapke liye pehle normal nahi hoti, woh dheere-dheere normalise ho jaati hain.

Her statement loosely translates to: “When you hear nothing but abuse 24 hours a day and are beaten for no fault of your own, things that once felt unacceptable slowly start feeling normal.”

She also alleged she was pressured regarding religious conversion and had attempted to approach the police about the harassment but did not receive the response she expected.

Calling it a case of ‘love jihad’, Surve said: “Definitely love jihad ka mamla hai. Kai log mana karte hain aur bolte hain ki jab maine khud yeh kiya tha, toh aaj kya bolna. Jab maine yeh decision liya tha, tab itni samajh nahi thi (Many people object and ask how I can say this when I made the choice myself. But I didn’t have enough understanding when I made that decision).”

What Happened At The ‘Ghar Wapsi’ Ceremony?

A special programme was organised in Pimpri-Chinchwad, where rituals were performed as part of the purification ceremony. Following the ritual, her name was changed from Ateeja to Adya Surve.

The event was attended by MP Medha Kulkarni, MLA Uma Khapre, and members of the Bajrang Dal. Her four children were initiated alongside her and given new names as well.

Addressing those present, she said: “Any girl who is enduring such things, please don’t endure it. God has not given us life to lose in front of such Ravanas. Don’t get discouraged. I was there for 10 years because I have four children. I spent so many years thinking that as a mother I should allow my kids to get the love of both their parents. But as a human being, my patience was over. I had to come out for my children.”

It was a powerful moment. It was also, apparently, the moment that made her a target.

And Then What — She Just Disappeared?

Days after returning home to Pimpri-Chinchwad, Sayli Surve was gone. So were her four children. Her parents allege that her in-laws from the Tase family kidnapped her.

A complaint has been filed with the Pimpri-Chinchwad police, who have launched an investigation into the matter.

Hindu organisations that had supported her ‘ghar wapsi’ have begun protests demanding that she be found immediately.

What Is The In-laws’ Side Of The story?

According to Navarashtra, Sayli’s mother-in-law Gulshan Tase has denied all allegations in the case.

The in-laws have not been publicly heard on the disappearance specifically, and the police have not yet confirmed arrests or made detailed statements. The investigation is ongoing.
